AllyMcGlam: PR Power Up Workshop

The phenomenal Lillie Mae hosted The PR Power Up workshop series at The Microsoft Store in Lenox Mall over the weekend. PR Power Up is a preparatory workshop series for business owners and individuals interested in pursuing Public Relations as a career -- to learn the key elements of successful PR, Branding and Media initiatives.

This was one of the best and most informative workshops that I have attended, I feel very much PR inclined with a plethora of knowledge from some industry professionals.

Below are a few key points that really stood out to me:

Blayne Alexander @ReporterBlayne (11 Alive) says before pitching a story to the news make sure you cover the 3R's - Relevance, Relate-ability, and Relationship. Reporters also like stories with exclusivity.

James Brashears @CorporateCode (Corporate Code) says find innovative ways to engage the community, and most importantly do not sell BIG and come up short.

Greg Cole @NancysBuckhead (Nancys Buckhead) says pass out business cards and make your presence known to grow your business. Kimberly Walker @KimmyGotSoul (Beauty & Lifestyle Journalist) says have a specialty in what you write, and become an expert in what you do. Always ask yourself what can you do to grow your business.
